Hi! I’m Charlotte

I love words almost as much as I love pink, so let me help you with them!

I am the editor of Kaleidoscope Arts Journal (now at kscopearts.com). If you’re a writer, I’ll pay you for your opinions. If you’re a reader, dive into our opinions on the art all around you.

Find my most recent theatre criticism on Kaleidoscope, Time Out Sydney, Limelight and ArtsHub.

I got my start as a theatre critic for Theatre Thoughts Australia. I’ve also featured on their podcast a couple of times — chuck them a listen to hear me giggle and fuss over Yve Blake and Stephen Sondheim. I used to write a monthly feature telling you about theatre you can see in Sydney for under 40 bucks.

My poetry has been published in Voiceworks, Pine the Zine and Baby Teeth Journal. In 2019, two of my poems featured in Never Heard of Them: An Anthology of Emerging Writers from the Illawarra & South Coast of NSW. In 2018, I won first place in the poetry section of the South Coast Writer’s Centre’s International Women’s Day Writing Competition.

During my uni days I was regularly published in Tertangala, the University of Wollongong’s student magazine. They featured my poetry, film criticism and creative essays.

I have a Bachelor of Laws/Bachelor of Arts majoring in Writing and English Literatures, so I can write anything from highly technical legal arguments to image descriptions for your website.

In mid-2023 I was one of the first students in the new ‘Writing About Culture’ course at the Faber Writing Academy, and an essay of mine was published in their 2022-23 Non-Fiction Anthology. In what I hesitate to call my spare time I’m working on a collection of essays about theatre, public transport, and being embarrassed about loving the art that we love.

During 2023 I also participated in a few editing courses here and there, and I edit complex legal decisions as part of my day-to-day work at the Fair Work Commission. I’ve been told I could “spot an italicised comma from a mile away”.
